Business Education Program
The Business Education Program is a key component of the government's strategy to support transition to the new gaming machine arrangements.
The program is free of charge and consists of business workshops, a toolkit and mentoring.
The business workshops were held across Victoria from July to September 2009. Each session examined the principles of managing a gaming machine business and the fundamentals of how to prepare a business plan. Topics included evaluating the gaming business opportunity, financial and strategic planning and running a gaming business. The slides from the business workshop presentation are now available on the Small Business Victoria website.
The business mentoring program continues until early 2010 and is open to both existing venue operators and anyone thinking about becoming a gaming venue operator from 2012. The program consists of two free mentoring sessions with a business and finance specialist who will travel to your venue to offer advice on business matters, including developing or refining business plans, marketing strategies and financial planning.
Anyone wanting to participate in the gaming machine industry from 2012 as a venue operator should begin their business and financial planning now.
